Where will Victoria's Canada Day celebrations take place?

Victoria’s Canada Day takes place on the homelands of the Songhees Nation and Xwsepsum Nation. Festivities will be held along the Inner Harbour, from Ship Point to the B.C. Legislature lawn.

When will the Main Stage programming begin?

Main Stage programming will start at 3 p.m. and run through until 10:20 p.m. Catch performances by Delhi 2 Dublin, Blue Moon Marquee, MIINA, Shauntelle / Huupʔaqsa / TSAYŁE Dick-Charleson, JAXXEE, Bagatelle, Tk The Artist, REACH! Performing Company, lək̓ʷəŋən Traditional Dancers and DJ Boitano.

Who is the headliner this year?

Delhi 2 Dublin will headline this year’s celebration. Known for their high-energy fusion of Bhangra, electronic and Celtic music, the band has built a global following. Their fan favourite songs include Planet Electric, Turn Up the Stereo and We Got This. Their live shows are often described as “90 minutes of joy.”

Will there be fireworks this year?

The festivities wrap up with a fireworks display over the Inner Harbour at 10:20 p.m.

Will there be activities for kids?

Yes, The Kids Zone is located at the northwest corner of the B.C. Legislature Lawn and will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m..

This lively area includes a bouncy castle, inflatable obstacle course and a variety of games and activities for kids and families. It also features an interactive installation from the Royal B.C. Museum, inspired by its current Beyond the Beat exhibit.

Additional kid-friendly activities will take place at Ship Point. Lawn games will be available throughout the day, and the Busking Showcase will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It includes four musical performances by local buskers on the main stage, dance and visual acts on the lawn and food trucks offering a variety of eats.

Can I purchase food at the event?

Yes, Belleville Street will be home to the Global Food Truck Village from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., featuring local favourites such as Churros and Mor, Deadbeetz, Greek n Go, Mama Rosies, Dumpling Drop and more. Come and celebrate the many cultures and food styles of Canada.

Are there water refill stations?

Yes. Two public water refill stations will be available - one on Menzies Street between Belleville and Quebec St., and another on Government Street between Belleville and Superior St.

Is Victoria’s Canada Day licensed?

No, alcohol is not available for purchase at the event.

Is there safe bike parking?

Yes, a free bike valet hosted by Capital Bike will be available from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Government Street between Belleville and Superior St.

Will I be able to take BC Transit to the event?

BC Transit will run on a Saturday schedule, with extra buses after the fireworks. Visit bctransit.com/Victoria for details.
What road closures and parking restrictions will be in place?

Several road and bike lane closures as well as parking restrictions will be in place to support the event.

All-day road closures including bike lanes:

Police may close these streets and bike lanes as crowds grow:

Government Street (Fort to Superior St.)

Other restrictions:

Songhees Road (Tyee to Kimta Rd.): police-managed closure, expect parking restrictions here on July 1.

Belleville Street (Oswego to Menzies) St.: local traffic only, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Parking restrictions:
Parking restrictions will be in place along Menzies, Belleville and Quebec Street to support the event and public safety. Follow all posted signs.

Where will the washrooms be located?

Two public washroom areas will be available, both with accessible facilities: near the Confederation Park fountain on Menzies Street between Belleville and Quebec St. and on Government Street between Belleville and Superior St.

Can I bring my pet?

This event takes place in a public space and welcomes pets at your discretion. Please note that this event sees very large crowds as well as prolonged amplified sound and sudden loud noises during the fireworks show.

Will there be first aid services?

Yes. St. John Ambulance will provide first aid support at two locations and will also have roving teams on site. From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., a first aid station will be located on the west side of the Legislature lawn. The second station will operate from 3 to 11 p.m. at the corner of Belleville St. and Government St.

Will there be community booths and vendors?

Yes, Belleville Street will feature a vibrant mix of community booths and vendors, including all-ages face painting and body art, fresh local produce from the Old Farm Market and engaging activations from Victoria Orange Shirt Day, Reciprocity Trusts and more.
